Trying to stay hydrated (while minding our business, ha!) is a goal for many of us, but drinking enough water daily can be a challenge. At minimum, the goal is 6-8 glasses daily (this will differ for everyone based on weight, dietary/workout needs, etc), but if you’re someone that’s not even getting in at least ONE glass? Giiiirl, we got to get it together!
When I’m on top of my water intake, I can easily consume 8-10 glasses of water a day, so I wanted to share a few ways that have helped me get in all of my ounces without feeling like I’m going to burst at the seams.
Water before coffee
Or any other meal, for that matter. Taking my daily vitamins + supplements are part of my morning routine, so once I’m showered and dressed for the day, I take them with a large glass of water before I have coffee or any food. Also, 16oz glass (vs. an 8oz) means I’ve already knocked out 2 cups for the day, and that kicks things right off.
Drink it at room temperature
So unless it’s extremely hot outside, I do not like to drink cold water. Like, I can enjoy a cup of crushed ice, but I have always preferred for my water to be at room temperature when I drink it. People always look at me funny when I get tap or grab a water bottle that hasn’t been in a fridge, but I’m not trying to drink water bc I love it oh so much-I’m trying to stay hydrated, lol. I can easily chug a 16-24oz bottle of water in a few seconds, and that helps me stay on track with my hydration goals, especially if I may have missed out on my first glass that morning. Seems a little weird at first, but once you see how much more quickly you can chug it, you’ll understand why I do it.
Use a reusable water bottle/cute cup
If you’re trying to cut down on using plastic and prefer to drink water from the tap (I mean, Memphis DOES have some of the best water in the world), then using a water bottle or a cute cup can definitely help you. My schedule allows me to do a lot of my water intake at home, but I do have a few cute reusable cups and water bottles that I can take with me when I’m on the go.
Infuse for flavor
Some people hate the taste of water (and I’m gonna be real with you, I think you’re weird, lol), so another thing that can help you with your water intake is infusing it with some type of fruit, veggie or herb. I keep it simple and use lemons, limes, or cucumbers (which is also detoxing), but you can add mint and other citrus fruits or berries to make your own combinations. Whatever you need to do to make it taste good, do it!
There are so many other things that you can do to help with your water intake, but these are the ones that have really helped me. We all know the health benefits of water and why our bodies need it, and hopefully one of these tips will help you keep it cute and hydrated!
