Hi friends! It’s been almost 2 months since I’ve put a post up here (bad blogger!), but I’m happy to say that we’re back to our regularly scheduled program. Life has been really really busy, so sometimes it’s easier to post on IG in those moments, but at the end of the day, I actually really do love blogging, so I’m doing what I can moving forward to make sure I update this space like I want. I’ve been sitting on content for a while, and some of it requires longer copy to go with it, so instead of posting it to IG and it dying after 48 hours, I just decided to hold it until I had the time to really dig into it. So here we are!
Anyhoo, it’s finally Summer here, so that means my style is starting to switch up a little bit because, well, IT’S HOT! Also, I knew that I was going on vacation earlier this month, so I slowly started building up my Summer wardrobe the weeks leading up to it. I also decided to step outside of my comfort zone a little. Earlier this month I went to Miami with friends, so I knew I wanted colorful, fun, pieces to fit the vibe of our trip. Believe it or not, SHEIN and boohoo came throoooooough and they’re where I found about 90% of my pieces!
Ya’ll I found so many cute pieces on their sites! I’d ordered a few things from SHEIN before (remember this post), but Boohoo was a first and I was really, really happy with most of my purchases. My vacay wardrobe goal was rompers and sets and I seriously lucked out in both categories. I did order a set that didn’t make the trip because the pants need to be altered (short girl problems), however, I have some other pieces sitting in my basket to get because like I said, they came through. Sites like this are good when you need to do a quick update but you don’t want to go broke investing in really trendy pieces. I know that people have an issue with fast fashion but truth be told, I just don’t have the disposable income to put towards clothing items like that all of the time. I don’t shop anywhere near as much as I used to (my bank account thanks me), but sometimes you need a little hit of the good stuff, lol.
I’ll be sharing those looks on here as well, but here’s one of the pieces that I wore when we went to brunch.
I’m OBSESSED with this mixed print romper! I wore it with casual sandals bc we were walking around that day but I DEFINITELY plan to rock it with some heels here at home.
And as you guys can see, I got faux locks! I haven’t had braids or anything like that since I was 14, but I knew that I didn’t want to fool with my hair on my trip since it’s still so short, so I knew I had to do something different. I love these so much!
I honestly regret cutting my hair back in January. Yes, the cut was cute and I needed a change, but I’m REALLY over it and miss my bob. I wore my hair this length on and off from age 14-26 so I know how it goes, but whew, short hair maintenance hits different at 40, lol. It’s growing relatively fast and getting thick, though, and I am happy to give it a break with a protective style. It’s taken a minute to adjust to having all of this extra hair on my head, lol, but I’m actually wondering how I’ll go back to regular styles haha. These are good for up to 2 months as long as I take good care of them (which I am), and I think I’m going to do them again or get smaller boho type braids after I take these out. If you’re interesting in getting them done, Nia is who did my hair and she is amazing. I’m really really happy with the results!
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in to say hello and let you guys know that I wasn’t done blogging; like I said above I have new content coming (we’ve been able to be “outside” the last few months so I have some content that’s not just fashion or home related lined up). I do post almost daily to IG (to my stories, not the feed), so make sure you’re following me there too!
I’ve missed this space, but I’m back bb!
