Being that I am a makeup product junkie, I’m always picking up something new at the drugstore or making quick trips to Ulta and Sephora, so I wanted to share a few new makeup items that I’m loving at the moment. The products may not necessarily be new in stores (but they’re new to me), and for the most part, they are products that I knew I had to stock up on after the first use. This doesn’t happen each and every time I try a new beauty product (thank goodness, lol), but when it does, I am ecstatic and want to share it with the world. If you’ve been wanting to try out some new beauty products, here are my current makeup faves.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Extra Shot Caffeine Concealer and Foundation
Let me preface this by saying that I am beyond sad that this line is being discontinued!!! I randomly picked up this foundation while in Sephora in Miami and OMG. From the moment I swiped this foundation on my face I knew that it would be my Summer staple. I have such a hard time finding foundation that actually matches my undertones (mine are neutral), and this one literally melted into my skin. I love how it wears throughout the day with and without a primer, and because it can do double duty as a concealer, I don’t have to add it if I don’t want to; I can just build this up where I need a little extra coverage. It looks like skin and only requires a light dusting of powder. I will buy every bottle of this foundation that I can find until it’s gone out of stores because it’s THAT good.
Sephora Collection Microsmooth Multi-Tasking Baked Face Powder
I used this powder years ago, but I recently came back to it. It is the perfect powder to use on those days when you don’t want to wear foundation but still need a touch of something on your skin to cover where you may have spot treated with concealer, but it also works well with setting foundation. This is another brand that does well with matching my undertones, and I’ll be keeping this compact in my every day makeup bag until I hit pan.
Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick
I love, love, love a good matte/liquid lipstick, and I’ve been wearing these Maybelline Super Stay Liquid Lipsticks for a bit and am a little obsessed. The colors are SO pretty and pigmented, and they have strong, long-lasting staying power. Make sure your lips are exfoliated and that you don’t put on too many coats because it can start to pill if it’s too cakey, but other than that, they’re great.
e.l.f. Powder Blush Palette
Another drugstore find that I wore yeeeeears ago but recently revisited. I now have this palette in my every day makeup bag. It’s SUCH a great deal for the price, and while the formula does give a bit of kickback when you swipe your brush, the colors are really pretty, buildable and blend beautifully on the skin. They’re not a flat matte color but they’re not sparkly either (I don’t like blush that has sparkle, tbh); it just makes your face look lively and youthful. If you don’t usually wear blush, seriously consider adding it into your beauty look because it brightens up your face and helps to give a youthful glow. With this particular palette, I love mixing 2-3 shades together to make my own custom color before applying.
Morphe Micro Brow Pencil
While I already have a holy grail brow pencil, I still like to test out new products from time to time to see how they do. This Morphe Brow pencil won’t replace that, BUT, I think it’s a great alternative for when I run out but don’t have time to pick up my top fave. I love the color (I use Cold Brew); like my HG it has a bit of an ash tone to it so it’s not too dark or too warm. and the formula isn’t too waxy so it doesn’t smudge everywhere. I do have to wear a brow gel to keep brows in place (I don’t have to do that with the other one), but it’s a small extra step for perfect brows.
These are my current faves for now, but I’ll check back in soon as I’m always picking up something new to try out from the store and I love sharing the deets with you guys!
