While most people start their Summer reading lists in late May or early June, life has been so busy over here that I’m starting mine right at the end, lol. I absolutely love to read (and always have), but finding the FOCUS that is required to disconnect from everything and read a physical book has been hell. I know that audio books are a thing, and I could also download an app to read books on a phone or tablet, but because I have to use my phone and laptop for work, I HAVE to pick up an actual book if I want to, well, actually read it, lol.
After this past weekend I’m not allowing myself to buy any more books until I read some of the ones that I’ve been sitting on for months. Seriously. It’s like a woman that keeps buying shoes that she’ll never wear: it doesn’t make sense to add them to the collection if they will never see the light of day.
With that being said, I figure that I can read at least 3-5 books before the first day of Fall (September 22), if I block time out in my schedule daily to to read at least 25-30 daily. Considering how much time I spend scrolling on social media or mindlessly grabbing my phone in between projects, this is definitely a doable challenge and should be a breeze. My work schedule isn’t so packed that I can’t pick up a book and read from it daily, I just have to slow myself down and MAKE the time so that it can become an habit.
These are the 3-5 books that I’m challenging myself to read over the next few weeks:
We Should All Be Millionaires – by Rachel Rodgers
Dedicated to a reality in which every woman has at least seven zeros in her bank account, author and experienced entrepreneur Rachel Rodgers offers this pull-no-punches guide for women to wield economic power—how real change is created.
Badass Habits – by Jen Sincero
New York Times bestselling author Jen Sincero gets to the core of transformation: habits–breaking, making, understanding, and sticking with them like you’ve never stuck before.
Invisible Influence – by Jonah Berger
In Invisible Influence, the New York Times bestselling author of Contagious explores the subtle influences that affect the decisions we make–from what we buy, to the careers we choose, to what we eat.
Get Good with Money – by Tiffany the Budgetnista Aliche
Introducing the powerful idea of striving for financial wholeness instead of early retirement or millionaire status, Get Good with Money guides us through the ten short-term steps that lead to long-term security.
The Girl with Stars in Her Eyes – (The Lillys) by Xio Axelrod
Her name’s Antonia Toni Bennette (yeah, she’s heard all the jokes before) and she’s not a rock star. Neither are the Lillys–not yet. But the difference between being famous and being almost famous can be a single wrong note…or the start of something that’ll change your life forever.
I have sooo many others, but these are the most recent ones that I’ve purchased and I’ve started on a few pages already in most. Are you up for the challenge? If so tell me what books are on your list!
How many books do you read a month?
