Happy Halloween friends! This was the first (adult) year that I didn’t dress up as a cat for Halloween, so I wanted to share my looks! Yes, plural! Ha! So I’m not quite sure what triggered this desire in me to want to actually get into costume this year, but I’m honestly so glad that I did. I’ve always enjoyed Halloween and gone to parties, but when it came to a costume, I always kept it really really simple and grabbed a pair of cat ears, added winged liner and a kitty nose, and called it a day. But I think because COVID took so much away from us last year, I really wanted to celebrate and get into it. I had festivities on my agenda this weekend (a house party and a halloween drag brunch), so I pushed myself to do something fun!
Look 1: Witchy Glam
Initially I said that I wanted to be Wednesday Adams for the Halloween party that I was going to, but when I went into the wig section at Spirit Halloween, I was like noooo, I want to do something extra and decided on being a Glam Witch. I found this fiery red wig and velvet hooded dress while at the store, and instead of buying a crystal ball, I decided to use a gold skull that I had at home that I’d bought years ago for decor (I told everyone it’s where I kept people’s souls, lol).
Last year I was gifted the Hocus Pocus Collection from ColourPop and decided it was the perfect time to break it out! I used the Gather Round Sister Pressed Powder Palette on my eyes (the colors are extremely pigmented) and even wore lashes (Flirty Witch)! I did my normal makeup for everything else, and for lips I mixed black eyeshadow over a dark burgundy liquid lipstick.
Look 2: Goth Doll
So this look was a last minute thought. As I was trying to figure out what to wear to the brunch, I remembered that I had a celestial head piece that I’d picked up from Spirit Halloween last year that I never used. Well, I didn’t want to just wear that, so straight to Youtube I went to look for simple/last minute makeup ideas and I found this tutorial from MsAaliyahJay and did my own spin on it. For makeup I used shadows from the Morphe 35O3 Fierce By Nature Artistry Palette (they are really pigmented too), the KVD Powder Contour Palette and Tattoo Liquid Liner, and some Halloween makeup from Target. It took a minute for me to figure it out, but I can easily recreate this look in about 10 minutes if I ever wanted to do it again.
I had a puffy sleeved tulle dress that I got at H&M earlier this year that I’ve never worn because it just felt meh when I had it on, but it was perfect for today. I belted it and threw on my combat boots and headed out the door!
After brunch I met my friend Michael and his daughter to help them snap some Halloween photos and he took these cool pictures for me. I’m so happy that I didn’t play it safe this year and actually got into the theme this year. I’ll definitely be doing this from here on out!
