Memphis is slowly but surely becoming a foodie town, so it feels like a new restaurant or bar is popping up every week. A few weeks back I attended the grand opening of Fancy’s Fish House, a new spot located downtown at One Beale, and I wasn’t disappointed.
Fancy’s Fish House offers a riverfront dining experience of chef-inspired favorites including fresh seafood, a lavish raw bar, + signature dishes from the grill. I was able to sample a few dishes that night and wanted to share what I tried!
Fried Green Tomatoes (sweet corn chow chow, Green Goddess dressing)
I’m not a huge fried green tomato fan, but I will try them from time to time. I really liked the flavor of these, and the green goddess dressing is a great enhancement for it. These are much more crisp than ones I’ve had before, and I think I actually prefer them that way.
Seafood Gumbo
I eat soup and gumbo year round, and this gumbo is one that I’ll have any time I visit. It’s SO good! I love how flavorful it was, and it wasn’t heavy, so I didn’t feel lethargic after eating it. Some seafood dishes can be too fishy as well, but this one didn’t taste that way.
Cajun Chicken Pasta (Andouille sausage, sweet peppers, roasted kale, pecorino Romano)
You can never go wrong with a pasta dish, and this one was quite yummy. The flavor was a little spicy but not HOT, and it’s very filling. I could only eat half of it while I was there.
Key Lime Pie Parfait
This was one of the best Key Lime Pie dishes I have EVER had. It’s very creamy, and not too tart or sweet. I would’ve licked the dish it came in had I been at home. Ha!
There are a ton of other dishes on the menu that are yum (try the lobster mac & cheese and crispy brussel sprouts), so I highly recommend hanging out here one night. It can get a little pricey, so I’m mark it more-so for date night/dinner with friends so that you can order a few dishes and share.
