My girls and I are always looking for different things to do when we have our hang sessions, so I recently had a few of them join me for a tour and tasting at Old Dominick Distillery.
Old Dominick Distillery is the first distillery to make whiskey in downtown Memphis since prior to Prohibition, and while I’ve had cocktails with their spirits before, this was my first time ever taking one of their distillery tours.
From the site:
The Old Dominick Distillery tour is a 45-minute sensory journey that begins with the history of Old Dominick and their founder Domenico Canale, an up-close view of our extensive grain to glass craft distilling facility, and ends with a curated tasting of Old Dominick’s portfolio of spirits.
Our tour guide Kate was amazing and walked us through the entire process as we toured the facility:
- Memphis Water
- Grain Milling
- Mash Cooking
- Fermenting
- Distilling
- Spirit Aging
- Bottling
After our tour, we gathered at an area to enjoy a tasting of their top spirits.
Each one has its own special notes, so we were able to taste the difference between each Whiskey, Gin and Vodka. My favorites were the Honeybell Citrus Vodka (I love anything with citrus flavors), and the Memphis Toddy (mix this with tea? OMG!)
The lineup: Memphis Vodka, Honeybell Citrus Vodka, Formula No. 10 Gin, Huling Station Straight Wheat Whiskey, Huling Station Straight Bourbon, Memphis Toddy
We also received a token for the Tennessee Whiskey Trail Passport, which is a group of 26 distilleries in the state of Tennessee making whiskey and other spirits (learn more here). THAT could be a fun travel activity to do over the Summer with friends.

It was such a fun way to do kick off an evening out with some of my girlfriends (there’s more detailed video on my IG here. After our tour and tasting, we headed 1 block over for dinner at Fancy’s Fish House. We had a ball!
