Hiii friends…it’s been a while. Months to be exact. The last quarter of 2023 was a very busy one with work, family things and just life, so many of the posts that were supposed to go up before the year ended never saw the light of day. Truth be told, I’ve been mentally burnt out around blogging and content creation for a while, but it finally came to a head in September.
While I was excited to reach 13 years in blogging, I also ran out of things to say. I mean, I have a ton of drafts (hundreds even), but I just didn’t have it in me to flesh them out. Even over on IG, I pulled waaaay back on posting as well. I just wasn’t feeling it. There’s SO much fucking noise on social and a lot of it sounds the same (just in different fonts), so I just really needed to be quiet for a change. I miss the old days of social media and blogging, and while I know it will never go back to what it was, I knew my contribution to it all had to evolve a bit so that I could get back to creating and enjoying it as well.
Thankfully, burnout isn’t new (I’ve been here before), so I did what I always do to get back to myself: I sought more inspiration. I still consumed social media, but I changed what and how I did it. I also did a lot more in real life (bc it’s so much better to live it than just scroll through it). If you follow me on IG, you know that I went to NYC on a whim in September just to see an art exhibit, and then I went back to Paris with my family in October (and I still plan to recap those (because travel content has no time limit). I also went to a few art exhibits at home, spent a lot of time with my family, enjoyed dinners and drinks with friends, celebrated my birthday, read books, listened to podcasts and audiobooks, and also… I got in a ton of rest and alone time. It’s so hard for me to slow down sometimes, so when I had the chance to do so..I did!
With that being said, I’m not fully back to blogging like I was before, BUT, I’m getting back into the groove with it. I’ve gotten in some products that I can’t wait to review (hello YSL Beauty!), new thoughts around personal style (I’ve cleaned out my closet TWICE over the last few months because what I like is evolving again), and there are a lot of new restaurants and businesses I want to highlight on here as well. I miss doing my Creative Spaces series, so I want to try to bring that back, I’ve been doing little things around my apartment (I seriously love this space and we’re coming up on 2 years here in April) and, I just want to share more things that matter to me as well.
I love that blogging is having a resurgence (if you’re on Threads you know that there has been a LOT of conversation around it the last few weeks because people miss the depth that it can hold), so I’m honestly excited to get back to it. I follow Myleik Teele (CurlBox) and before she officially relaunches her Podcast she’s been doing “Warm Up” episodes the last few months and I like that concept. I’m not relaunching, but consider this as a warm up post. I’m dropping in to say hi and let you know that I’m still here, but also know that there is much more to come. Also, if there’s anything that you’d like to hear about from me, please let meknow!
xo, Kim
