Last month I celebrated 14 (yes FOURTEEN!) years of blogging and honestly, I still can’t believe that much time has passed! This last year has been filled with a LOT of change, and truthfully, it caused me to really fall behind with posting here (well, in general, really), but the last few months have ushered in a newfound sense of creativity, so I’ve really been enjoying making content again.
I’ve been working with a few brands, but honestly, I’m just having fun making content in general. A lot of times we get so caught up in trying to monetize and get the attention of brands that we forget the fun that comes with just creating for the hell of it. Would I love to be making thousands and thousands of dollars from blogging and influencing all the time? Absolutely! But that’s not what my platform is about or why I started in the first place. I genuinely like to share products, clothes, food and experiences, and working with brands (and being paid for it) is a fun perk that I don’t take for granted, but creating a space where I can freely share my thoughts and recommendations whenever I feel like it is so much better.
Last month was HELLA busy for me. I worked a ton with my photography clients, but I also had some cool opportunities to create content for social, and I hope to continue to do that in Q4. We’re headed into the holiday season, and while I need to flesh out my content ideas, I really love this time of year because it’s a season of gathering with friends, holiday focused experiences, and the fashion. Ooooh the Fall fashion! Fall is my favorite time of year, so I have a few things that I need to add to my wardrobe (I’m in desperate need of new boots and cute shoes), and I’m really hoping to get out to do some seasonal activities. I’ll make a Fall bucket list post soon, but just know, I’m excited for this season.
I’ve also been playing more and more with video. Since IG seems to hate photos now, I’ve had no choice but to jump on the bandwagon and start making Reels. At first I absolutely hated it, but then I realized, just because we’re essentially being forced to create video doesn’t mean we have to do it a specific way. I’m an OG Blogger, so my video content is moreso in alignment with old school style vlogging. I try to keep it interesting and involve a lot of movement, but I am NOT trying to be a videographer. Overall, I just want to be a better storyteller, whether it’s sharing an experience, new makeup, or personal style. I’ve been posting to TikTok too, but I don’t take it seriously at all, lol.
I say all of this to say: be ok with evolving. Blogging is fun and if you are in this for the long haul, remember to create your content in a way that is sustainable to YOU. You don’t have to re-invent the wheel (evergreen content will always be needed), but don’t be afraid to try something new. You just may discover another side to your creativity.
I will be posting more frequently on here again, but if you’d like to also follow me via social media, you can find me on Instagram, Tik-Tok, YouTube and Threads. I also have a LTKI page that I will be updating more consistently as well (just in case you want to do more shopping). One day I will restart my newsletter, but one thing at a time chile, lol.
There’s a lot to look forward to in Q4 and I hope you stay around for awhile. As always, thank you for being apart of my community! xo
