Stylist Inspiration | German Vogue | Walk on the Wild Side

Check out images from the fashion series Walk on the Wild Side in the November issue of German Vogue. Shot by Claudia Knoepfel & Stefan Indlekofer and styled by Nicola Knels, it’s street style with glam pop elements (think slick hair, lots of leather, fur and color). 

A shoot like this, IMO, is a stylist’s dream. The wardrobe is divine; from the layers, to the mix of patterns, to how everything is accessorized, this editorial has given me some much needed inspiration for when I work on my own port and in my personal style life. Even the beauty looks are something I want to try.

While I’m not bored with US magazines, international editions are known to be much more edgy and fashion forward with their work and I wish that more American magazines would do the same. I know that it’s challenging trying to come up with new concepts but I feel that sometimes we get either too boring (where nothing is happening) or a little too artistic in our approach, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I think it can sometimes take away from the fact that the editorial is about highlighting the clothes. 

I go to magazines for inspiration, for a little bit of fantasy in a more stylized world. For me, the images actually become unmemorable when they are so “creative” that you can’t really tell what is trying to be conveyed (she’s walking a llama in a tutu with oxfords, shirtless, on a deserted island? *scratches head* Oh, ok).  In trying so hard to set the pace for trends, a lot of time we miss the mark. Many of the European editorials I’ve seen reach a much more happy medium. But that’s just my two cents (and who am I, lol).
