This season is ALL about bright colors on the eyes, lips, and tips (nails that is) but if you’re like me, you want to test certain trends out before going for a higher end product to make sure that it works on you. A few weeks ago, my friend and makeup artist Diti Devi recommended tryingNYX Rouge Cream Blush in Orange($6.75) on her Facebook Page as a dupe for M.A.C.’s “Optimistic Orange”, and because I have a hard time finding bright powder blush that shows up on my skin without looking clownish, I decided to give it a shot.
LOVED IT!
The orange cream is intense when you dab your fingers into it and first apply but it blends really sheer so that you have a nice wash of color on your cheeks. It’s made with minerals so it’s really smooth, not sticky like some cream blushes can be, and long-lasting. If red or pink toned blush is too much for your complexion, an orange hue will warm you up. This is a good product for women of color. If orange isn’t for you, there are 11 other shades to experiment with.
TIP:
Always, always, always moisturize before applying makeup, and try to apply in natural light so that you can get a true sense of the color on your cheeks. As with all blush, too much is NOT flattering, so have a light hand with application and build. You can also apply this with a wet/dry brush if you want more control. Balance the look with stronger brows, tons of black mascara on top & bottom lashes, and a golden based gloss on lips for a polished yet on trend look.
While I was in Philly, I stopped in the M.A.C. store and picked up a few new products one of the days that we went out exploring. In addition to new blush, and concealer, I also picked up the most gorgeous fuchsia matte lipstick, All Fired Up, and decided to go for a bold lip with glowy skin the next day that we went out.
Fall is my favorite time of year, especially when it comes to beauty. KVD Vegan Beauty is now available at Ulta, and as part of the UB Collective, I received some items from their line to create a look with.
Glassy makeup is all about achieving that dewy, lit from within look with a focus on cheeks, lips and skin. I typically love a matte finish when it comes to my makeup, but this Spring I want aaaall the glow.
Last month I had the pleasure of attending a SS17 Trends makeup class taught by M.A.C. artists Shaka Diamante + Tony Denise from the Macy’s M.A.C. counter at Oak Court Mall.
I’ve gotten my routine and techniques down to a science, so regardless of what products I use, I can get my makeup done within 8 minutes and create a look that’s natural but polished-perfect for every day.
I will most definitely be checking this out. I’m been on the hunt for peaches and coral blushes for the longest. This color looks great.

if my assessment is correct, it will look fab on your skin. Again. its SUPER bright (like a melon lipstick) on you when you first put it on so blend, blend blend!
