This season is ALL about bright colors on the eyes, lips, and tips (nails that is) but if you’re like me, you want to test certain trends out before going for a higher end product to make sure that it works on you. A few weeks ago, my friend and makeup artist Diti Devi recommended tryingNYX Rouge Cream Blush in Orange($6.75) on her Facebook Page as a dupe for M.A.C.’s “Optimistic Orange”, and because I have a hard time finding bright powder blush that shows up on my skin without looking clownish, I decided to give it a shot.
LOVED IT!
The orange cream is intense when you dab your fingers into it and first apply but it blends really sheer so that you have a nice wash of color on your cheeks. It’s made with minerals so it’s really smooth, not sticky like some cream blushes can be, and long-lasting. If red or pink toned blush is too much for your complexion, an orange hue will warm you up. This is a good product for women of color. If orange isn’t for you, there are 11 other shades to experiment with.
TIP:
Always, always, always moisturize before applying makeup, and try to apply in natural light so that you can get a true sense of the color on your cheeks. As with all blush, too much is NOT flattering, so have a light hand with application and build. You can also apply this with a wet/dry brush if you want more control. Balance the look with stronger brows, tons of black mascara on top & bottom lashes, and a golden based gloss on lips for a polished yet on trend look.
I come across so many cool, inspiring articles, recipes, clothing + products throughout the week, so I thought I’d start sharing a weekly link roundup on the blog. Hope you enjoy!
I’m a self-proclaimed makeup junkie. Very few things bring me more joy than getting lost in Sephora or playing around in Target‘s Beauty Department. Scouring…
I’ve been a makeup junkie all of my life, and one of my favorite times to get new products is when the seasons change. I also overall my skincare routine (heavier moisturizer, a little more exfoliation), but here are 4 ways that I update my makeup bag for Winter.
Can we say HOLY GRAIL product?! Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder ($4.99) has been the best pressed/setting powder I’ve used in years. I picked it up…
I’m not going to go too deep into these steps and product details because everyone’s skin is different, but I wanted to share my (extended) morning skincare routine in case you’re looking to add something new to yours.
I will most definitely be checking this out. I’m been on the hunt for peaches and coral blushes for the longest. This color looks great.
