Simple Ways To Romanticize Fall

Fall always puts me in the mood to slow down a little, get extra cozy, and be more intentional about how I spend my time. Between the cooler temperatures and earlier sunsets, I fully indulge in slowing down during this time so that I can find joy in the little things and make more room for the activities that help re-fill my cup.

Romanticizing Fall doesn’t require any elaborate plans, but it does require being intentional with planning your free time so that you can make the most of it (but not in a hyper-productive way). If you’ve been trying to find ways to slow down and really romanticize those quiet moments, here are a few simple ways to make the most of the season.

Set a Fall Reading Goal
Now’s the perfect time to finally pick up that book you’ve been meaning to read, or make a short list of books you’d love to get through before the year ends. You only have to commit to getting through a few pages daily, and you can do it from the comfort of your home or at your favorite coffee shop to make the moment even more cozy.

Take a Nature Walk
If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere near a park, lake or an area that’s very scenic, put on some comfy shoes, turn on an audible book or podcast and enjoy the cooler weather while giving yourself permission to unplug for a bit. No step goals required!

Spend Some Time in the Kitchen
We all have a few cookbooks on our shelves, and Fall is the perfect time to finally crack them open and practice. Try a new soup recipe, bake some cookies or cinnamon rolls, or make something you’ve been craving. Go to a Farmer’s Market to get fresh produce for it if you can. Sometimes the process of creating a special dish is just as enjoyable as the finished product. Bonus points if you have time to do it with a friend.

Start Journaling
Whether it’s writing down your thoughts, keeping a gratitude list, or simply documenting little moments from your day, journaling is an easy way to slow down and check in with yourself. If you own a ton of cute journals like me (I’m addicted to paper goods, lol), pick one and finally use it!

Visit a Museum or Art Gallery
This is one of my favorite cold weather activities. Spending an afternoon wandering through an exhibit, discovering a new artist, or revisiting a favorite local museum is a fun way to get out of the house and find a little inspiration without it being a huge commitment of time.

Make Time for a Little Creativity
Puzzles, needlepoint, crocheting and flower arranging are popular crafts for a reason. If you’ve been needing an extra outlet to help you get your juices flowing, let this be the season that you try a few out. If you want to be more social with it, check to see of there are any crafting clubs or events happening near you.

For me, romanticizing your life doesn’t mean doing more or constantly being busy. It means being intentional about making the most mundane things more fun and being more present, so here’s to a season filled with cozy moments, little adventures, and more time poured back into yourself.
