A Summer Reset
I know it’s been a while since my last post, but I’m still here! Work (and life in general) has been kicking my butt, but in the best way possible. I’ve got a really great rhythm going with my clients, so it allows me to have what they call “work/life balance”. Some weeks get really busy, but for the most part, I’ve been blessed with the type of schedule that affords me free time to explore, travel, and rest, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing this Summer.

As someone that creates content for a living with my clients, constantly having to be online and absorb so much of it is a lot mentally, and it’s honestly been moving me to be offline more. Don’t get me wrong, I love to watch TikTok videos and scroll Pinterest with the best of them, and I absolutely love what I do for work, but it can be mentally exhausting, so I’m forcing myself to have a Summer reset so that I can get back to more analog activities, stretch my brain and reconnect with myself.
So far, I’ve done a little bit of travel (we went to the beach about a month ago for a few days and it was divine. We were literally a 2 minute walk from the beach), gone to a few different concerts, enjoyed dinners and events with friends, and I’ve taken a pottery class! I’m trying to be way more intentional with how I spend my time with people, while also being ok with saying no and missing out on things.

I’m also trying to get back to reading physical books for fun as well; this is my biggest challenge because I have the attention span of a squirrel and it’s so hard for me to get started beyond the first few pages. I also want to take a painting or drawing class or and/or a cooking class of some sort. I really like doing stuff with my hands (maybe because it forces me to put my phone down?) so if it’s something that’s quick but requires focus, I’m down.

I’m also focused on resting more this season as well. I actually come alive during the colder months vs Summer (I’m a December baby and love a chilly Fall day), so on days when it’s super hot and I don’t have to run around, I simply… don’t. And it doesn’t necessarily mean that I am sleeping the hours away, but I’m no longer trying to be “productive” all of the time. Every moment of the day doesn’t have to be filled-it’s ok to even be bored sometimes.

I’m also decluttering and purging a LOT at home. I own way too many clothes and products so I’m trying to clear things out to help shift the energy in home. I’ve got a clearer vision around my personal style, so finally letting go of those pieces that no longer serve me has been great.
This Summer is all about being more intentional across the board and so far, it’s been exactly what I needed.
