Back To (Wardrobe) Basics With Gap
I’ve always labeled my style as “classic with a twist”, and while my wardrobe has started to lean a little more bohemian/Cali cool these days, there are a few classic pieces that I will always gravitate towards; one such piece being a classic button up shirt.
You can never go wrong with investing in one (or many like I have), and if you aren’t sure where to start with building your collection, Gap is always a good choice. Their Poplin Big Shirts are timeless, and with their slightly oversized fit, you still get a clean and polished look without it being stuffy. I usually go with solid colors (they’re extremely versatile), but when I saw the dark blue striped version I knew I had to have it.

Normally I’d pair a shirt this color with white denim or trousers, but I decided to go with a pair of chocolate colored linen pants that I got earlier in the Spring from Old Navy. They are extremely comfortable and I’m so happy I bought them in multiple colors (they’re sold out of the colors I have online, but there are a few others still available and you may be able to still find them in-store). Navy and brown compliment each other quite well, and pairing them with flat strappy sandals and gold jewelry keeps it casual but still pulled together. I’m Gen X so I love a front tuck, but if I can ever figure out how to do it, I want to do this styling hack (I promise it looks easier than it actually is!!!).
When all else fails I reach for a button up when getting dressed, and this is the type of outfit that I can wear on photoshoot days, but it also works for weekend brunch dates and travel. They have a few other colors that I want to add to my collection.

Gap (and Gap Inc. brands in general) has really stepped up their game this year and the quality of their products is why I always go back to them for my wardrobe basics.
